Vollendorf Lane will be temporarily closed until further notice.

After an inspection, at the Union Pacific Railroad Crossing of Vollendorf Lane (Crossing Number 183922H) in the Town of Union, The Office of the Commissioner of Railroads (OCR) has found the crossing is unsafe for vehicular travel. The crossing surface has been raised significantly and the southern approach is not wide enough to accommodate two lanes of traffic creating visibility issues, and potential for vehicles to become hung up on the crossing and potential for head-on collision.

The OCR requires the temporary closing of this crossing to public traffic while the matter is under consideration for discontinuance of public use or until the crossing can be used by the public in a safe manner.

 The Town of Union Board will hold the first discussion meeting on November 14, 2023 @ 6:30pm at the Union Town Hall to discuss the discontinuance of the RR crossing on Vollendorf Lane.
